Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MUCH WILL IT ALL COST?

Every structure is different, and without conducting a full measure and site inspection it is very difficult to even give a ball park figure. We highly recommend an inspection prior to quoting as it give us the chance to assess the structure, possible restrictions, environment and topography.

WHICH PRODUCT IS BEST FOR MY LOCATION?

The location of your property can sometime dictate the material we use. Colorsteel Endura is the most widely used roofing material in NZ. But if your property is within a certain distance from the sea other products such as Colorsteel Maxx or ARX Aluminium should be used to ensure a longer lasting roof.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN GAUGES- .40g vs .55g?

Roofing iron generally comes in 2 different gauges. .40g is widely used on residential properties throughout NZ. .55g is slightly more durable, better for foot traffic and widely used on MOE projects and commercial properties.

LOW PITCH ROOF? WHAT TO DO?

Low pitch roofs require different profiles, this allows for an easier water flow on the roof, and prevents water pooling and causing issues in the future. We also use 75mm safety mesh to give extra support to the paper underlays and prevent sagging.

SHOULD I USE PAPER UNDERLAY?

There are a variety of different products on the market, but the main aim of a paper underlay is to reduce condensation, dependant on the paper it can also be flame retardant. We ensure that the appropriate paper is installed to match the requirements of each property.

WHAT IS EDGE PROTECTION, AND DO I NEED IT?

As always H&S is a huge factor to consider in the construction industry. We have our own designated, certified scaffold team that create a safe working environment for both our team and you. When constructing scaffold and edge protection we attempt to be as unobtrusive as possible, and allow you to move around the outside of your property as easily as possible.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

This is a common question, and unfortunately there is no single defining answer. Timeframes are always dependant on the size of the structure, the current work load and unfortunately the mercy of Mother Nature

HOW WILL IT EFFECT US?

We always ensure that a dwelling that is being resided in is water tight every night. We will never leave you with half a roof and expect you to get a good night’s sleep. Our aim is to ensure that the property is water tight before we leave site every evening.

WHAT WILL THE ROOFER NEED?

When working at your property we will require a few things to ensure the job runs smoothly. Water, power and the use of a toilet are the 3 main things we will ask of you. If these can’t be supplied there is always a way around it.
