The new shed at Otaika Valley Egg Farm presented Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad with a project that tested both adaptability and pace. Across a 120m x 24m footprint, the team installed a full roof and soffit system in Sandstone Grey – but the specification came with an unusual twist. All of the roofing materials were supplied from Turkey, arriving as lapped sheets in a format and fixing methodology outside Apex’s standard workflow. Rather than letting that slow things down, the team got to grips with the imported product quickly, maintaining the momentum needed to stay ahead of other trades on a busy commercial build. The system was built around a double-layer construction with underslung iron forming the inner layer, and an insulation layer sandwiched between it and the outer roof to create a well-insulated, fit-for-purpose agricultural building.

The site itself added another layer of difficulty. Perched on an exposed hilltop, the Otaika Valley location is affected by strong winds, and working at height in those conditions demanded constant care and focus from the crew throughout the installation. The critical milestone was completing the underslung roof early enough to hand the interior over to other trades, keeping the broader project on schedule. It’s the kind of job that doesn’t make headlines, but demands exactly the sort of problem-solving and site competence that Apex provides.
