About Apex

Jake Tomason is the Founder and Managing Director of Apex Roof 'N' Clad, which he established in 2011. With more than two decades in the roofing and construction industry, Jake has helped build Apex into one of Northland's leading roofing companies while earning a reputation for delivering practical solutions, quality workmanship, and tackling complex roofing challenges. A Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in Carpentry, Long Run Roofing, and Pressed Metal Tile Roofing, Jake also holds a Diploma in Carpentry. His experience spans architectural roofing and wall cladding through to large-scale commercial and industrial projects, giving him a broad understanding of all aspects of the industry. Jake specialises in roof inspections, condition assessments, and technical reporting, regularly working alongside engineers, architects, designers, and consultants to develop practical, innovative solutions. As Managing Director, he remains actively involved in the day-to-day running of Apex and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of tradespeople while maintaining the family values the business was built on. Outside of work, Jake enjoys coaching his kids' rugby teams and making the most of Northland's outdoors through fishing and hunting.

Jess is the co-founder of Apex Roof 'N' Clad and has been part of the business since day one, helping grow it from a small family operation into the company it is today. With a background in hospitality management, Jess originally stepped in to help as the workload increased, balancing her growing role at Apex while raising a young family. What started as lending a hand soon became a career, and over the past 15+ years she has become an integral part of the business. As General Manager and Project Manager for spouting, fascia, and tile roofing, Jess works closely with clients, suppliers, and the team to keep projects running smoothly from start to finish. She thrives on building strong relationships, solving problems, and enjoys the people side of the industry just as much as the banter that comes with working in construction. When she's not at work, Jess enjoys spending time on the water fishing, travelling whenever she gets the chance, and making the most of time with family and friends.

Brodie holds a Diploma in Roofing and is a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) in Long Run Roofing. With decades of hands-on experience, including successfully running his own roofing business, he brings outstanding technical knowledge and leadership to the Apex team. As Construction Manager, Brodie oversees project delivery on site, working closely with crews to ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently, and to the high standard Apex is known for. He's passionate about mentoring staff and helping develop the next generation of roofers. Outside of work, Brodie is a keen outdoorsman with a passion for competitive waka ama, bringing the same dedication, discipline, and team spirit to the water that he brings to the workplace.

Chris has been part of the Apex team for more than seven years, joining in search of an opportunity to further develop his construction and estimating skills. Since then, he has built extensive experience estimating roofing and cladding projects across the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. As Quantity Surveyor, Chris prepares accurate estimates and tenders, working closely with clients, suppliers, and the Apex team to ensure projects are competitively priced, well planned, and set up for success from the very beginning. Committed to continual learning, Chris holds a National Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Level 6) and is currently completing a Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying) through Massey University.

With more than 20 years' experience in roofing and construction, Cole brings a wealth of practical knowledge and leadership to the Apex team. Having worked alongside Jake on and off for more than two decades, he has been part of the journey for many years and is a highly respected member of both the team and the wider industry. As a Project Manager, Cole oversees projects from planning through to completion. From measuring roofs and ordering materials to coordinating crews and working closely with clients, he ensures every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the high standard Apex is known for. Cole is passionate about mentoring younger team members and takes great pride in seeing apprentices and roofers develop their skills and confidence. He enjoys watching projects come together from start to finish and is committed to achieving the best outcome for both the team and our clients. When he's not at work, Cole enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Whether it's riding dirt bikes, heading away camping, or simply getting outdoors, he loves passing on his practical skills, can-do attitude, and sense of adventure to his kids.

With over a decade of experience across roofing and scaffolding, Keith brings a wealth of practical industry knowledge to the Apex team. As a Project Manager, Keith is responsible for planning and coordinating projects from the outset. From measuring roofs and ordering materials to scheduling work and liaising with clients, he works closely with the team to ensure every project runs smoothly. He also collaborates with fellow managers to coordinate crews and make sure the right people are on the right jobs at the right time. Keith enjoys seeing a project come together from start to finish and takes pride in delivering successful outcomes for both the team and our clients. Outside of work, Keith enjoys spending time with his children and family, whether it's heading to the gym or getting out for a bush walk together.

Kelly has been part of the Apex Roof 'N' Clad team for seven years. With a background in banking and the electrical industry, she brings a sharp eye for detail and a strong understanding of business processes to her role. While Kelly's role centres around accounts, she's involved in many aspects of the business and is often the person quietly making sure everything stays on track behind the scenes. What she values most about Apex is its close-knit, family atmosphere. Outside of work, Kelly enjoys heading to music gigs, spending time at the beach, or hitting the road in her motorhome.
