Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad was engaged by Hillcon Group to deliver the full roofing and cladding package on Whangārei’s new NZ Post facility. This large-scale commercial build covers 6,750m²  across warehouse and office spaces. 

The specification was carefully considered for both function and longevity: 0.55g Maxx 5-Rib in Titania to the warehouse and office roof, Maxx 5-Rib in Gull Grey to the warehouse walls, and 0.55g Vitor+ZX Interlocking Panel 190 in Gull Grey to the office walls. This architectural panel choice gives the office component a refined, interlocked finish distinct from the warehouse. Box gutters in 300mm and 125mm with external brackets complete the drainage system, all finished in Gull Grey to tie the palette together. At 18 metres per sheet, the roof installation alone was a significant logistical undertaking.

The time frame was the defining challenge of this project – the team was required to complete the work in almost half the time a job of this scale would typically allow. With weather affecting the schedule and multiple subcontractors on site simultaneously, the pressure was constant. The key to keeping everything moving was sequencing: getting the roof in first created a weathertight shell that allowed trades underneath to crack on with internal fitout, encapsulating the building and making it lockable ahead of schedule. Completed in October 2023, the NZ Post facility is a testament to what tight coordination and a focused team can deliver under real pressure.
