Kennedy Point Marina’s striking new floating facility needed a roof that could match its architectural style – a bird-inspired form, highly visible from the water, provides exceptional performance and a bold aesthetic finish. The project took home Gold and Best Project Overall ($3M–$10M) at the 2024 NZ Commercial Project Awards.
Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad specified a fully engineered warm roof system using Rooflogic Linerdeck in 0.55g Zincalume and Rooflogic Topdeck T in 0.90 Alumiguard Black. This purpose built combination provides insulation, coastal durability, and sharp architectural appeal.
Working on a floating pontoon structure brought challenges that go well beyond a standard commercial roofing project. The team had to navigate tidal access and manage materials over water throughout the installation, while the movement and flex of the floating building made achieving true, level lines a constant technical test. The result speaks for itself – a precision-installed, highly insulated roof that holds its own visually and structurally, completed in August 2023 and towed to its permanent berth at Kennedy Point Marina in one impressive piece.
