The Hermpac facility at Marsden Point is one of the largest projects in Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad’s portfolio: a multi-structure industrial complex for one of New Zealand’s leading exotic timber importers and distributors, delivered in partnership with Hillcon Group.

The original building footprint of 9,900m² was just the beginning. Over a five-year period from 2019 to 2024, the site grew progressively through southern and northern expansions, along with multiple outbuildings, bringing the total clad area to over 16,100m². Throughout, Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad supplied and installed 0.55g Roofing Industries Multi-Rib wall and roof cladding in Mist Green. The entire complex uses the same specification that ties the growing site together visually while delivering the durability a working industrial facility demands.

The scale of the project brought challenges at every stage. 11 metre wall sheets required careful handling and precise installation, with expansion and contraction across such a large structure needing close attention throughout. Construction also had to proceed around Hermpac’s live operations, meaning careful safety planning and site coordination were non-negotiable. The team also worked through multiple storm events over the course of the project – maintaining progress and standards without compromising on safety. It’s a project that demonstrates exactly what a long-term, trusted contractor relationship looks like in practice.
