Dockland 5 sits on Port Road and is a mixed-use commercial building housing offices and a café, designed to stand out in one of Whangārei’s busier corridors. To achieve that, the roofing and cladding specification needed to do real visual work. 

Apex Roof ‘N’ Clad installed 0.55g Maxx 5-Rib in Ironsand to the roof and 0.55g Maxx Alpine Tray 450 in Titania to the walls. The depth of the Ironsand roof pairs with the lighter, textured Titania cladding to create a contemporary finish.

Precise detailing was needed for the Alpine Tray wall cladding to cleanly meet the aluminium cladding and soffit linings while maintaining the crisp finish the architectural brief demanded. With a café tenant’s move-in schedule driving the programme, there was no room to let detailing slow the pace – the team had to deliver quality and keep things moving. The result is a building that works hard on both counts: a well-presented  commercial exterior that stands out from the street and was handed over on time for its tenants.
