Little Munroe Bay Residence had a persistent problem with leaks that had gone unresolved for years, stemming from a low-pitch membrane roof with internal guttering that simply wasn’t performing.

The solution was a full re-roof using 0.55g Maxam Alpine Tray 340mm in Terracotta, with all guttering moved to external positions to improve drainage and reduce the risk of future water ingress. Custom 125mm copper box gutters were fabricated and installed to handle the transition, with the warm Terracotta tone of the Alpine Tray tying the new work back into the existing roofline seamlessly. The result is a roof that not only looks cohesive but is finally, properly watertight.

The defining challenge of the project was the curved tapered section at the front of the building – a geometry that doesn’t accommodate standard roofing details and required custom curved copper gutters to be fabricated specifically for the job. Getting the tray to follow the taper cleanly, while ensuring the copper gutter sat true and drained correctly, demanded a high level of craftsmanship and careful on-site problem-solving. With winter approaching, getting the building weather-tight within the project timeframe was the overriding priority that the team delivered on.
